DOWNTOWN CIRCULATOR

I wanted to provide you with an update on the circulator

The council quietly approved the appropriation for the rest of FY 09, so we are continuing to move forward.  We don’t see there being any issue with council once we receive the buses – they are ordered and we’ll be receiving the first of 21 towards the end of this month.

We’re planning on a June 10 announcement of the name of the service.  Mayor Dixon will make the announcement at 10:30 AM in front of City Hall.

We very recently learned that our dates for delivery of the other buses have slipped somewhat due to a change in the manufacturing schedule.  We plan on deploying buses as we receive them.  More than likely we’ll deploy one route in late August or early September and the rest by the end of September as we receive buses.  We will be playing it by ear, and communicating our deployment as later summer / early fall.

On another note, the first leg of the water shuttle began this week – between Maritime Park and Tide Point.

We’re working on notifying our partners, stakeholders, and various community organizations of the change to our deployment schedule.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
